Johanna Ngeno’s Heartbreaking Final Social Media Post Surfaces

The last social media post of Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ngeno joyfully celebrating a musician hours before dying in a helicopter crash has surfaced online, leaving Kenyans shocked and mourning the sudden loss.

The private helicopter crashed in Mosop, Nandi County, around 4:45 pm on Saturday, February 28. The aircraft burst into flames on impact, killing all six people aboard. Nandi County Police Commander Samuel Mukuusi confirmed the fatalities.

Hours before the tragedy, Ngeno had been actively responding to a disaster in his constituency. He had visited families grieving after two young men were swept away by floodwaters in the Mara River the previous Sunday night and had joined search teams to assist in rescue efforts.

A heartbreaking video recorded inside the helicopter later revealed Ngeno seated beside the pilot as they flew over a river. In the background, a popular gospel track by Upendo Nkone played softly, its lyrics pleading for divine guidance and protection—a song that many now view as an eerie foreshadowing of the tragedy.

Earlier, at 1:43 p.m., Ngeno had shared a social media post expressing deep sympathy for the bereaved families. He urged residents to exercise caution near swollen rivers and roads during the ongoing rainy season, demonstrating his commitment to his constituents until his final hours.

In his last social media update, Ngeno attended an event celebrating local musician Kim Kim in Endebes, Trans Nzoia County. Welcomed by a group of singing women and adorned with sinendet, a ceremonial grass signifying peace, prosperity, and blessing, Ngeno appeared in high spirits as he smiled and danced with locals.

“I have just arrived at Kapkugo, Tulwop Kony, Endebes, to join friends, fans, and fellow leaders in celebrating Artist Kim Kim’s remarkable 35th anniversary in the music industry,” he wrote. The post captured a joyous and culturally rich moment that now stands as a poignant memory of the MP.

Locals rushed to the crash site through heavy smoke, while images and clips of the burning wreckage quickly circulated on social media. Many Kenyans expressed shock that the MP had been online just hours earlier, and the gospel track in his final video has sparked reflections on life, faith, and community service.

As the nation mourns, Johanna Ngeno is remembered not only for his political leadership but also for his dedication to his community and the genuine warmth he shared in his interactions. His last social media post remains a bittersweet reminder of a life devoted to service and celebration of Kenyan culture.
