Governor Natembeya Vows Mathari Hospital Over Alliance With Ruto
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has once again ruled out working with President William Ruto, saying he would rather be taken to Mathari Hospital than align himself with the Head of State.
Speaking live on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the governor said he has never thought of joining Ruto’s team. He said his differences with the president are rooted in years of personal mistreatment.
“Ruto has humiliated me for many years. The day you see me cross over to his side, take me straight to Mathari Mental Hospital,” Natembeya said.
He dismissed claims he could change his mind in the future, saying he has no political relationship with the president or his allies. “Political competition should never justify harassment or oppression,” he said.
Natembeya also trashed the government’s push for a broad-based administration, calling it a political tool to weaken the opposition. He vowed to remain a government critic.
His comments sparked debate among political observers and residents, with many saying although his words were strong, they were consistent with his long-standing criticism of the president.
Natembeya went further to say his journey in politics has been marked by constant humiliation from Ruto’s side. He said leaders should maturely accept political differences rather than weaponise them against opponents.
“As mature people, if there are political differences, why should you use them to oppress others?” he asked.
The governor’s remarks come as political realignments are expected ahead of the 2027 General Election. But Natembeya said his stand is final and told Kenyans to judge him by his actions going forward.
