Heartbreak for Boni Khalwale as Wife Gloria Dies Unexpectedly

Senator Boni Khalwale’s Wife Dies After Suspected Heart Attack

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has announced the death of his wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, who reportedly collapsed suddenly and died on Saturday morning after what the senator described as a heart attack.

In a statement announcing the tragedy, Khalwale said his wife’s death came suddenly, leaving the family and those close to her mourning her unexpected passing.

“My dear wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, has this morning suddenly collapsed and died after a heart attack,” Khalwale said.

Gloria was the mother of eight of Khalwale’s children, according to the senator, as messages of condolence began pouring in following news of her death.

The senator did not provide further details about whether Gloria had been receiving treatment for any underlying medical condition before her death.

The news prompted an outpouring of sympathy from political leaders and members of the public, who sent messages of support to Khalwale and his family.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was among those who condoled with the family, expressing his sympathy to Khalwale during what he described as a difficult period.

“Omwami Khalwale, pole sana for your loss. May God comfort you and your family in this difficult time. Khulialala Omwami. May her soul rest in peace,” Sifuna said.

National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee Chair Samuel Atandi also sent his condolences to the Kakamega senator.

“Very sorry, Senator. May God comfort you and your family during this difficult time,” Atandi said.

Former Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera was also among those who expressed sympathy, wishing Khalwale and his family strength and comfort as they mourned.

Gloria was also the mother of Engine Kukaste Khalwale, who recently graduated from Moringa School as a Certified Full-Stack Software Engineer.

Khalwale’s Family

Khalwale has previously spoken publicly about his family. In February 2024, he revealed that he had four wives and 17 children.

Gloria Sekeiyan was his third wife.

Khalwale’s first wife, the late Adelaide Khalwale, was the mother of his first three children. She died in 2019.

His second wife, Josephine Khalwale, is the mother of three children, while his fourth wife, Diana Khalwale, is also the mother of three children.

Gloria’s sudden death adds to a difficult period for the senator and his family, with political allies, friends and members of the public continuing to send messages of condolence.

Further details concerning funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family.
