Lake Nakuru National Park Excluded from KWS Free Entry Initiative on September 27

Lake Nakuru National Park will not be participating in the nationwide free entry day on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

Only visitors with pre-paid eCitizen tickets will be allowed entry to Lake Nakuru through Nderit Gate between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. Main Gate at the flamingo area and Lanet Gate will be closed, so walk-in visitors will not be able to access the park for free.

This is only for Lake Nakuru National Park. All other KWS managed parks, reserves and sanctuaries will be open for free on that day.

“Public notice: there will be no free entry to Lake Nakuru National Park, Saturday, September 27, 2025,” KWS stated.

Pre-paid ticket holders should use Nderit Gate and adhere to park rules to ensure visitor safety and wildlife conservation.

All KWS sites are plastic-free zones. Do not do anything that can harm animals or damage the ecosystem. Respect wildlife by keeping a minimum distance of 20 meters, do not feed animals, do not make loud noises and stay in your vehicle except in designated areas.

Other rules include: 40kph speed limit, no off-road driving, strict camping rules (do not leave fires unattended), respect local communities by seeking permission before taking photos and dress appropriately.

“Wild animals are unpredictable. Close encounters can be dangerous so always prioritize your safety and that of wildlife,” KWS added.

KWS encourages responsible tourism and conservation in all national parks, reserves and sanctuaries in Kenya.
