Four Kenyan political parties have proposed changes to their leadership, headquarters, symbols and colours through notices submitted to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

Four political parties in Kenya have proposed changes to their leadership structures, headquarters, official symbols and party identities as political organisations prepare for the 2027 General Election.
The proposed changes were communicated through Gazette Notices published on Friday, October 30, 2026, notifying the public of intended amendments by the political outfits.
The developments involve the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG), Party for Peace and Development (PPD), Democratic Union (TDU) and Usawa Kwa Wote Party (USAWA).
The notices were submitted to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP), which oversees the registration and regulation of political parties in Kenya.
The changes are part of ongoing political and organisational preparations as parties seek to strengthen their structures ahead of the next electoral contest.
Movement for Democracy and Growth proposes leadership changes
The Movement for Democracy and Growth, which is listed under the Azimio La Umoja Coalition, has proposed amendments to its constitution and changes to its list of national officials.
Among the proposed officials is Monica Apio Mungála, who is listed for the position of National Chairperson.
Hillary Adolwa has been proposed as Deputy National Chairperson, while Julius Ouma Jwan is listed as Secretary General.
The proposed changes are intended to update the party’s national leadership structure and constitutional arrangements.
The proposals are subject to the relevant regulatory process, including the opportunity for members of the public to submit objections.
Party for Peace and Development proposes new headquarters
The Party for Peace and Development has proposed several changes involving its headquarters, party symbol, official colours and national leadership.
The party intends to relocate its headquarters from Muthaiga Flat along Thika Road to House No. 54, Roasters, Mukima Drive, off Thika Road, Nairobi.
It has also proposed replacing its existing triangle symbol with a jug.
The party’s proposed new colours are orange, sky blue and white, replacing the previous combination of red, white, green and black.
Several leadership adjustments have also been proposed.
Phylis Kambita has been listed for the position of National Women’s League Chairperson, replacing Florence Wangui.
Judith Kwamboka has been proposed as Deputy National Chairperson in charge of Operations, replacing Faith Mbogo.
Trizza Kithitho has also been proposed as Deputy National Chairperson in charge of Strategy, replacing Dahabbo Darro.
Other proposed appointments include Brian Ooga as Secretary for Devolution and County Governments and Omari Samwel as National Chairperson in charge of Diaspora.
Democratic Union seeks new headquarters and party identity
The Democratic Union has also proposed changes to its official identity and organisational structure.

The party intends to relocate its headquarters from Victoria Plaza along Parklands Road to Gigiri Whispers Avenue in Nairobi.
It has further proposed replacing its existing house symbol with a unity kite.
The party is also seeking to change its slogan from ‘Mwanzo Mpya’ to ‘Our People, Our Purpose, Our Power’.
Its proposed new official colours are red, dark brown and green, replacing the existing combination of red, blue and white.
The changes would give the party a different visual identity as it continues organising ahead of the 2027 elections.
Usawa Kwa Wote proposes relocating headquarters
Usawa Kwa Wote Party has also notified the registrar of its intention to relocate its national headquarters.

The party intends to move from Muthaiga to Muiri Lane, opposite the main entrance to Bomas of Kenya in Karen, Nairobi.
The proposed relocation forms part of the organisational changes outlined in the Gazette Notice.
Further details of the party’s intended adjustments should be checked against the full official notice and any subsequent communication from the ORPP.
ORPP gives public seven days to submit objections
The proposed changes are subject to public scrutiny under the applicable political party registration procedures.

According to the notice, any person wishing to raise objections or submit comments concerning the intended changes was required to make written representations to the Registrar of Political Parties within seven days of publication.
The notice stated that written submissions should be presented within the specified period.
This process gives interested parties an opportunity to raise concerns before the proposed changes are considered further.
Members of the public and party officials can consult the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties for official information on the notices and the status of the applications.
What the changes mean ahead of the 2027 General Election
The proposed adjustments highlight how political parties are reviewing their organisational structures as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.
Changes to party headquarters, symbols, colours and slogans can form part of efforts to strengthen branding and improve public recognition.
Leadership changes may also help parties reorganise their internal operations, although the practical impact will depend on how the proposed adjustments are implemented.
For political parties seeking to compete effectively, strong leadership structures, clear party identities and compliance with electoral regulations will remain important.
The changes also demonstrate that preparations for the next election are taking place beyond the activities of the country’s major political formations.
Conclusion
Four Kenyan political parties have proposed changes to their leadership, headquarters and official identities through notices submitted to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. The proposals form part of wider organisational preparations ahead of the 2027 General Election, although the final status of the changes depends on the applicable regulatory process.
