Gov’t Announces Job Opportunities for Riders in Dubai, Recruitment Interviews Scheduled

The Ministry of Labour has announced new jobs in Dubai for Kenyan riders, targeting those with motorbike riding skills.

Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua said on Wednesday, September 10, that the recruitment exercise is open to men aged 21-38. Applicants must have good riding skills and command of English and ability to use Google Maps.

According to the CS, the recruitment process will involve practical riding tests. Successful candidates will get a fixed monthly salary of AED 2,100 (Ksh74,000) to AED 2,500 (Ksh88,140). There will also be a performance-based pay of AED 7.5 (Ksh264) per delivery.

Mutua said the salary will only apply once candidates get a UAE driving license and officially start working in Dubai.

“Come with confidence, show your riding skills and grab this opportunity to work in Dubai,” Mutua told.

The interviews are scheduled from Thursday, September 11, to Saturday, September 13, at National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) in Athi River. The sessions will be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This comes after months of scrutiny on foreign employment programs. In May, CS Mutua dismissed allegations that the government had promised fake jobs abroad after Kenyans who were recruited in December 2024 complained they were not deployed to Qatar.

Mutua said those affected were victims of rogue agencies operating outside official government channels.

“We have also seen disturbing cases of fraudulent messages, incitement from certain quarters and involvement of unauthorized and unregistered recruitment agents who are preying on the hopes and aspirations of young Kenyans,” he said.

He added that his ministry will not tolerate exploitation of Kenyans seeking genuine employment. To curb the vice, investigations into rogue agencies are ongoing and blacklisting and prosecution is already in place.

“To protect the integrity of this and future programs, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has put in place comprehensive safeguards including blacklisting and prosecution of rogue agents and agencies operating outside legal frameworks.

“We will also upgrade verification and vetting systems to ensure only credible and accredited recruitment pathways are approved,” Mutua said. This will attract many young Kenyans looking for foreign opportunities especially in the booming delivery sector in Dubai. The government has promised to regulate and be transparent, so every opportunity through official channels will be safe and worthwhile.
