How to Obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct at Huduma Centres

You can now apply for police clearance certificates, also known as Certificates of Good Conduct, at Huduma Centres across the country.

Huduma Kenya announced the move to simplify access and reduce the long waiting time applicants have been experiencing.

“Police clearance is now at your fingertips. Walk into select Huduma Centres and get your good conduct certificate processed,” the agency posted on X.

Previously applicants had to collect the certificates from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road or regional DCI offices. The process has been digitized and integrated into the eCitizen platform and Huduma Centres are now additional service points.

How to apply

Log into the eCitizen portal, select DCI services and fill in the online application for the police clearance certificate. It costs Sh1,050.

Once you pay, the system will generate a C24 fingerprint form and receipt which you will print and present physically at Huduma Centres, DCI headquarters or designated regional offices.

You will need to carry your original national ID or passport, copies of the documents, two passport size photographs, C24 form and payment receipt. Fingerprinting is still mandatory due to legal and security requirements.

It takes 2-4 weeks after which you will receive an SMS or email. You can then download the certificate from your eCitizen account.

Why the certificate is important

Police clearance certificates are required for various official purposes including job applications, visa applications and professional licensing. The certificate is valid for 12 months and indicates if you have a criminal record, pending charges or previous convictions.
