Isiolo South Member of Parliament Mohamed Tubi Bidu has died at Nairobi Hospital following a prolonged illness, President William Ruto confirmed on Wednesday, November 12.

The veteran lawmaker’s passing marks the end of a distinguished career in public service that spanned decades. Tubi was widely respected for his unwavering dedication to the people of Isiolo and his steadfast advocacy for education, development, and equality.

According to family sources, the Isiolo South MP had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness before succumbing on Wednesday morning. His death has triggered an outpouring of grief across the country, particularly among colleagues and constituents who remember him as a pillar of integrity and humility in leadership.

President William Ruto led the nation in mourning the late legislator, describing him as “a dedicated public servant and a passionate advocate for education” whose efforts left a lasting mark on his community.

“Hon. Tubi will be remembered as a dedicated public servant and a passionate advocate for education, who believed in empowering communities through knowledge and opportunity,” President Ruto said in a condolence message issued from State House.
“He devoted his life to transforming lives and advancing development in Isiolo. His legacy will endure through the many lives he touched,” he added.

Ruto further conveyed his sympathies to Tubi’s family, friends, and constituents, praying for strength and comfort during what he termed a “very difficult time.”

Tubi’s death also prompted tributes from fellow legislators, among them Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, who described him as a humble and selfless leader deeply committed to uplifting his community.

“Hon. Tubi was not only a colleague but a mentor and friend to many of us,” Amisi said in his statement. “His leadership was marked by humility, vision, and a genuine desire to see his people prosper. His legacy will continue to inspire the next generation of leaders.”

Before being elected to Parliament, Tubi served as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, where he earned praise for his fairness and focus on institutional development. His political journey, marked by perseverance and a focus on community empowerment, cemented his reputation as one of Isiolo’s most respected public figures.

As the nation mourns, plans for his burial are expected to be announced by the family in consultation with government officials and local leaders.
