‘They Sang TUTAM, I Said No’: Juliet Riziki Bayah Says Linda Mwananchi Is Gaining Ground in Kilifi
Hon. Juliet Riziki Bayah has reaffirmed her commitment to the Linda Mwananchi movement, saying her early decision to join the political outfit despite widespread opposition has helped build its growing presence in Kilifi County.

Speaking ahead of the Linda Mwananchi Brigade’s planned engagement in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, Bayah described herself as the first senior mainstream politician from Kilifi to publicly embrace the movement, saying she made the decision at a time when many political leaders were backing the “TUTAM” political message.
According to Bayah, choosing a different political path required courage and conviction.
“When everyone else was singing ‘TUTAM,’ I chose to say no. I believed in the vision of Linda Mwananchi even when it was not the popular choice. Leadership is about standing for what you believe in, even if you stand alone,” she said.
Bayah said she believes the movement has steadily gained support across Kilifi, with more residents identifying with its message.
She credited what she described as her sacrifice, consistency and determination for helping introduce and strengthen the movement’s grassroots presence in the county.
“I am proud of the journey we have taken. Today, Kilifi is slowly turning blue because people have embraced the message of change. It has taken sacrifice, resilience and determination, but the movement continues to grow,” she added.

The legislator also hailed the increasing participation of young people, community leaders and grassroots supporters, saying their involvement demonstrates that the movement is expanding beyond its earliest supporters.
As preparations intensify for the Linda Mwananchi Brigade’s campaign activities in Ol Kalou, Bayah confirmed that she will play a leading role alongside the movement’s leadership.
Led by Nairobi Senator Hon. Edwin W. Sifuna, the brigade is expected to take its message to residents as political mobilisation continues ahead of the next General Election.
“We are coming to Ol Kalou under the leadership of Hon. Edwin W. Sifuna. We are ready to engage wananchi and continue spreading the Linda Mwananchi message across the country,” Bayah said.
She further called on supporters to remain united, saying the movement’s strength lies in its grassroots mobilisation and collective resolve.
Bayah concluded by rallying supporters behind one of the movement’s popular slogans.
“Wantam is the slogan, na si tafadhali,” she declared.
Her remarks come as Linda Mwananchi continues to expand its political activities in different parts of the country, with Kilifi emerging as one of the counties where supporters say the movement has established a visible grassroots presence. Bayah maintains that Kilifi will remain well represented as the movement continues its nationwide mobilisation.
