Kenya School of Government Cancels Certificates Amid Fake Document Crackdown
The Kenya School of Government (KSG) has cancelled a series of Certificates of Achievement as part of a nationwide crackdown on fake academic credentials.
In a public notice dated November 11, KSG Director General Nura Mohamed confirmed the immediate voiding of all certificates bearing serial numbers from MA 0251 to MA 1000. “This is to notify the public that the Kenya School of Government has cancelled Certificates of Achievement Serial No. MA 0251 to MA 1000,” the notice read. Mohamed added that the certificates were never issued or used by the school for any formal qualification.
KSG warned employers to ignore attempts by individuals to use the invalid certificates to gain employment.
Founded under the Kenya School of Government Act No. 9 of 2012, KSG has grown into the country’s premier institution for training public servants in leadership, management, and service delivery. With campuses nationwide, it offers programmes aimed at equipping civil servants with the skills necessary to implement government policies and promote good governance.
The move coincides with a broader government effort to tackle fake academic documents, particularly in the public service. Earlier this year, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) launched a digital platform to verify certificate authenticity, a system piloted in partnership with the Public Service Commission. According to the PSC’s 2023/2024 annual report, 449 government employees lost their jobs after being found in possession of fraudulent qualifications.
KSG continues to emphasize transparency, accountability, and professionalism in the public sector while collaborating with ministries, agencies, and international partners to ensure its programmes remain practical and relevant.
