KUCCPS Opens Inter-Institutional Transfer Window for 2024 KCSE Cohort; How to Apply.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened the inter-institutional transfer window for students who sat the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination. The notice dated 11 July 2025 was sent to all Vice-Chancellors of universities and Directors of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

According to KUCCPS, the inter-institutional transfer portal will be available from Monday, 14 July 2025 and will run for 10 days until Wednesday, 24 July 2025. The process is for students who want to change the institutions or programmes they selected during the 2025 placement cycle.

KUCCPS says eligibility for transfer will be based on the prescribed cut-off points and minimum subject requirements for the targeted programmes. No exceptions will be made for applicants who do not meet the set criteria.

The inter-institutional transfer process will follow these steps:

  1. Student initiates an online transfer application through the KUCCPS student portal and submits to the receiving institution.
  2. Receiving institution endorses the application through its institutional portal and confirms capacity and eligibility.
  3. Releasing institution receives the application and formally releases the student through the institutional portal.
  4. Fully endorsed application is returned to KUCCPS for final approval and generation of a transfer letter.
  5. Student downloads the approved transfer letter and presents it to the receiving institution for admission letter and joining instructions.

KUCCPS says both the receiving and releasing institutions will receive comprehensive transfer reports through their institutional portals for tracking and record-keeping.
