KUCCPS Issues Urgent Scam Warning as Fake University Transfer Forms Target Students
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued an urgent warning to students and parents after fraudsters began circulating fake university transfer application forms online, falsely claiming that the transfer window has already opened.

In a public notice released on Friday, July 10, the placement agency dismissed the circulating forms as fraudulent and cautioned Kenyans against submitting applications or making payments through unofficial platforms.
KUCCPS stressed that it has not yet opened the inter-institutional transfer application window and urged students to ignore misleading messages spreading across social media and online student forums.
“Students, parents and the general public are advised that KUCCPS has NOT started receiving inter-institutional transfer applications. Application dates will be announced soon through this X Page, the KUCCPS website and the Students’ Portal,” the agency said.
The placement service explained that the official dates for transfer applications will be communicated only through its verified X account, official website and the KUCCPS Student Portal.
Fake Google Form Targets Thousands of Students
The warning comes after a fraudulent Google Form began circulating widely in WhatsApp groups, Telegram channels and online forums where students frequently seek updates on KUCCPS placements, the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and the Higher Education Fund (HEF).
The fake application falsely claims to facilitate transfers between universities, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campuses and teacher training colleges.
To appear legitimate, the fraudsters instruct applicants to pay Ksh1,000 as a transfer fee and an additional Ksh600 service charge through a mobile money payment number before submitting the application.
KUCCPS warned that the payment instructions are fraudulent and advised students not to send money or disclose personal information through any unofficial links or forms.

How Official KUCCPS Transfers Work
The placement agency reiterated that all genuine transfer applications are processed exclusively through the official KUCCPS Student Portal once the transfer window is formally opened.
Under the official procedure, applicants must log into their KUCCPS accounts, select the inter-institutional transfer option, choose their preferred institution or programme, provide reasons for requesting the transfer and complete payment of the prescribed Ksh1,000 application fee using an eCitizen payment reference code before submitting the request.
KUCCPS emphasized that no applications are accepted through Google Forms, social media links or third-party websites.
Warning Comes After 293,869 Students Were Placed
The clarification comes only days after KUCCPS announced the placement of 293,869 students into degree, diploma, certificate and artisan programmes ahead of the September admission cycle.
The latest scam appears to be exploiting anxiety among students and parents following the release of placement results, particularly those hoping to change universities or courses after expressing dissatisfaction with the institutions or programmes allocated to them.

With many applicants eagerly awaiting the transfer window, KUCCPS has urged the public to remain vigilant and rely solely on official communication channels to avoid falling victim to online fraud.
