Odinga Family Appeals for Financial Support Towards Beryl Achieng’s Funeral

The Odinga family has called on Kenyans of goodwill to support funeral arrangements for the late Beryl Achieng Odinga, younger sister to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, as preparations for her memorial service and fundraising initiatives gather pace.

In a statement issued on Sunday, 30 November 2025, Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga confirmed that a Holy Mass and mini fundraiser would be held the same evening at House No. 5, Mwingi Villas on Mwingi Road in Kileleshwa, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Ruth Odinga, who is also the deceased’s elder sister, shared the announcement via her official Facebook page. She described the gathering as a moment for the family, friends, and supporters “to come together in prayer, remembrance, and unity” as they honour Beryl’s life.

According to the message on the poster circulated online, the event aims to provide communal strength for the grieving family.

“In Loving Memory of BERYL A. ODINGA. Background on Beryl Achieng Odinga

Beryl Achieng Odinga passed away on Tuesday, 25 November 2025. She was the daughter of Kenya’s first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Mary Ajuma Oginga, and the younger sister of the late opposition leader Raila Odinga, whose own death earlier in the month plunged the country into mourning.

Family and friends have remembered Beryl as warm-hearted, compassionate, and exceptionally devoted to her loved ones. She was a mother of three — Ami, Auma, and Chizi — and was widely admired for her kindness and unwavering support for those around her.

Her passing has compounded a difficult period for the Odinga family, coming so soon after the loss of Raila Odinga, a towering figure in Kenya’s political landscape.

Funeral arrangements and the official burial date are expected to be communicated by the family in the coming days.
