Photo of Raila at Dubai’s King’s College Hospital Fuels Health Rumours
As speculation swirls about his whereabouts, keen-eyed Kenyans think they have found Raila Odinga in the United Arab Emirates.
ODM secretariat confirmed on Sunday that Raila left the country last Friday but said he didn’t travel to Europe for treatment as reported in the media. Despite that, his prolonged absence – nearly two weeks now – has raised public curiosity.
Later that evening, a photo emerged showing Raila watching the London derby between Arsenal and West Ham, smiling with Awendo MP Walter Owino. The image seemed to calm the nerves of his supporters. But online sleuths quickly noticed that the background in the photo looked like the interior of King’s College Hospital in Dubai and wondered what he was doing there.
While the party says Raila is on a “medical holiday”, it’s not clear if he’s getting treatment or just routine checks.

Inside King’s College Hospital Dubai
King’s College Hospital, based in London, has expanded to the Middle East with branches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Jeddah. The Dubai facility is one of the best hospitals in the region, with state of the art technology and specialists.
The hospital offers specialist care in orthopaedics, cardiology, paediatrics, gastroenterology, hepatology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, dermatology and vascular and neurological surgery.
According to the hospital’s website, orthopaedic treatments include joint replacement, spine surgery and sports medicine – areas that attract elite patients and athletes worldwide.
Premium Healthcare at a Cost
King’s College Hospital is known for its quality but also for its premium pricing. Consultation fees range between Ksh74,000 and Ksh120,000 (USD 575-900) per visit depending on the doctor and specialization.
Executive health checks for patients above 40 years cost Ksh130,000 for men and Ksh148,000 for women while those above 60 pay up to Ksh204,000 for a full physical assessment.
Political Reactions and Rumours
As the rumors about Raila’s health continue to swirl, ODM officials are accusing rival politicians of spreading lies. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked Raila to come out and clear the air, saying,
“My prayer is that God gives Raila long life and good health. I pray that he supports William Ruto so that we defeat both of them in 2027.”
ODM says Raila’s trip is personal and nothing to worry about. But the debate about his visit to one of Dubai’s most expensive hospitals is still the talk of the town across the country.
