Prophet Owuor’s Prayer for Maduro Resurfaces After US Arrest as Followers Claim ‘Fulfilled Prophecy’
The relationship between Kenyan preacher Prophet David Owuor and former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro has come under renewed scrutiny following Maduro’s reported arrest and detention in the United States.
Attention has been drawn to a series of public appearances, prayers and prophecies involving the Repentance and Holiness Ministry founder and the embattled South American leader, including a high-profile visit to Venezuela in November 2025 — just weeks before escalating US military action in the region.
Prayer at Venezuela’s seat of power
During that visit, Prophet Owuor was personally received by President Maduro at Miraflores Palace, the Venezuelan equivalent of Kenya’s State House.
Footage shared by Owuor’s ministry shows the preacher laying his left hand on Maduro’s head while praying fervently, as an interpreter translated his words from English to Spanish.
“I want to pray for the president of this country, in the powerful name of Jesus,” Owuor declared.
“I decree with my prophetic tongue today that you protect the president of this nation and the entire land of Venezuela.”
He added:
“I decree health and strength upon the president of this land, Nicolas Maduro… I have decreed today victory, victory, victory — victory three times in the mighty name of Jesus.”
The prayer, dated November 15, 2025, was later published across official church platforms.
‘Dream’ of US submarines and war
Weeks earlier, on October 24, 2025, Prophet Owuor had issued a chilling prophecy during a broadcast on Jesus Is Lord Radio, the ministry’s Nakuru-based station.
“For the past one week running, the Lord has been taking me to Venezuela and showing me the war that is about to break out,” he said.
He went on to describe what he claimed was a vision of US nuclear submarines approaching Venezuelan waters, saying one vessel came “about 500 metres from the shore” as Venezuelan boats fled.
At the time, tensions between Washington and Caracas were already escalating. The US had launched naval operations in the Caribbean, targeting vessels accused of trafficking narcotics, while President Donald Trump confirmed he had authorised the CIA to conduct covert operations inside Venezuela.
On October 15, Trump acknowledged he was considering land operations in Caracas, after Senate Republicans blocked legislation requiring congressional approval for further strikes.
Followers hail ‘fulfilled prophecy’
Following the latest US offensive and Maduro’s reported detention, supporters of Prophet Owuor have flooded social media, claiming the prophecy has now been fulfilled.
“It has already been fulfilled on January 3, 2026,” wrote one follower on YouTube.
“The Lord had already warned before,” added another.
Others pointed to Owuor’s remarks about military roadblocks and searches, which he described in his October broadcast.
“The Lord showed me many roadblocks by the military. They were stopping people, searching every car,” he said.
Past prophecies and controversies
However, Prophet Owuor’s prophetic claims have long generated debate.
In 2019, he said he had foreseen Kenya’s devastating locust invasion, attributing it to national disobedience. Scientists later explained the invasion as part of a cyclical weather pattern.
He has also spoken of tsunamis, hurricanes and global calamities, though critics say no direct causal link has been established.
Last year, speculation spread online that Owuor had predicted Doomsday for August 2, 2025 — a claim his ministry firmly denied.
“Prophet Dr Owuor has always been categorical that nobody knows the day or hour when the Messiah will return,” church leaders said in a statement.
Healing claims under investigation
More recently, Owuor’s ministry has faced official scrutiny over claims of divine healing for serious illnesses including HIV, cancer and physical disabilities.
On New Year’s Eve, he told worshippers at a cross-over crusade in Nakuru City that multiple patients had been healed, flanked by individuals identified as medical doctors.
“I declare in the mighty name of Jesus: every condition under the sun, receive your healing now,” he proclaimed.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) swiftly pushed back.
“All medical treatments must be grounded in scientific evidence and regulatory approval,” the council said, warning against abandoning prescribed treatment for unverified claims.
The council also condemned doctors who appeared to endorse the alleged healings, saying such actions violate professional standards.
