Rigathi Gachagua in Fresh Scandal Over Alleged Illegal Occupation of Nairobi Property

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and businesswoman Julia Muthoni Mwangi have been accused of unlawfully occupying a luxury Nairobi apartment without completing payment of the agreed Ksh25 million purchase price.

In a demand letter dated September 30, 2025, Royal Importers and Exporters Limited, through their lawyers Adrian Kamotho Njenga & Company Advocates, alleged that the two forcefully gained entry into Unit 02, Block D, at Skyrock Apartments in Lavington.

According to the complainant, Gachagua and Mwangi took possession of the apartment in breach of the sale agreement, which stipulated that full payment had to be made prior to occupation.

“They have remained in unlawful occupation while deliberately taking our client for a ride,” the letter stated.

The law firm has now demanded that the two vacate the premises immediately, acknowledge responsibility for the alleged breach, and settle all outstanding dues, which will be calculated using prevailing market rates.

The notice further warned that failure to comply would trigger legal action, including the possibility of auctioning household items within the apartment to recover the alleged debt.

As of the time of publication, neither Gachagua nor Mwangi had issued any public response to the allegations.
