Ethekon, who currently resides in Johannesburg, appeared before the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) for vetting, where lawmakers questioned his commitment to Kenya given his ongoing role at the continental organization.

The revelation was made by Treasury Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo during a presentation before the National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriation Committee on May 28, 2025, in Nairobi.
