UDA-ODM Alliance in Turmoil as Oburu Issues Fresh Demand to Ruto Before 2027 Elections

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga has called for the complete execution of the 10-point agenda agreed upon by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, emphasizing that all commitments must be fulfilled before the 2027 General Elections.

Speaking at Chungwa House following a meeting with newly elected ODM Members of Parliament, Dr. Oburu described the agenda as pivotal for national cohesion and socio-economic development. He urged party members to remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring its implementation.

“We are in a broad-based arrangement where we have a 10-point agenda which we want to see implemented fully before the 2027 elections. This is what we stand for,” Dr. Oburu said.

The ODM leader also praised the party’s performance in the recent by-elections, framing the results as a clear victory for the collaborative framework between ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

“We are very happy and proud because where we fielded our candidates for parliamentary seats, we succeeded in all of them. Where our partners, the UDA, also fielded candidates, they succeeded as well. This broad-based arrangement succeeded in all the parliamentary seats that were up for grabs,” he noted.

Accompanied by ODM deputy leaders Abdulswamad Nasir, Godfrey Osotsi, and Simba Arati, Dr. Oburu stressed the importance of sustaining party cohesion and strengthening its national presence.

“This is not a time for us to sleep; this is a time for us to work, deliver, and strengthen our party. ODM must remain strong. It is a national party, not a party for any particular area, but a party for the unity of Kenya and for the future of the country,” he added.

Highlighting the youthful composition of the newly elected MPs, Dr. Oburu also emphasized generational continuity within the party.

“The people who have been elected here are Gen Zs like me. Our party must remain strong, and members of ODM should be proud. If we don’t work hard to make our party strong, we risk being taken for granted,” he said.

With the 2027 elections approaching, Dr. Oburu’s remarks underscore ODM’s commitment to both collaborative governance and internal party consolidation, reflecting the party’s strategy to maintain its relevance on Kenya’s national political landscape.
