Uhuru Kenyatta Is Grooming His Brother Muhoho for Presidency in 2032 – Mutahi Ngunyi
Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has sparked fresh debate by claiming that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is masterminding a long-term strategy to position his younger brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, as a future president in the 2032 General Election.
Jubilee Party Leadership Shake-Up: Strategic Moves for the Long Game
Recent changes in the Jubilee Party have been interpreted by Ngunyi as deliberate preparations targeting 2032 rather than immediate gains.
Fred Matiang’i, the party’s presidential candidate, announced the reshuffle: Jeremiah Kioni, who served as Secretary General since 2022, was reassigned to the less influential role of deputy leader. The Secretary General position went to former MP Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta.
Ngunyi described this as a clear demotion for Kioni, whose political utility has been exhausted, while elevating Kenta as a key strategic placement. He cautioned that Matiang’i risks similar treatment, potentially being sabotaged to lose in 2027 and damage his future prospects.
The 2027 Decoy Plan: Matiang’i’s Role in Uhuru’s Strategy
According to Ngunyi’s analysis, the Kenyatta family intends to field Matiang’i in the 2027 presidential race against incumbent William Ruto. However, the plan is engineered for Matiang’i to fail deliberately, serving as a “decoy” to clear the path for Muhoho.
Ngunyi stated bluntly: “Kenyattas will field Matiang’i in 2027. He will be engineered to fail. He is a decoy. Muhoho Kenyatta will then be made president in 2032.”
He further predicted that Ruto would defeat Matiang’i in 2027, aligning with Uhuru’s alleged wishes to set up the longer-term dynasty play.
Muhoho Kenyatta: From Political Outsider to Potential Dynasty Heir
Despite hailing from one of Kenya’s most prominent political families, Muhoho Kenyatta, now 61, has historically avoided active politics, maintaining a low profile.
This changed briefly in late 2024 amid intense speculation. Rumors circulated about his possible appointment to the Cabinet under President Ruto, potentially positioning him as a running mate in 2027.
Uhuru-Ruto Gatundu Meeting: Behind-the-Scenes Political Maneuvering
New details emerged about an unexpected December 2024 meeting between Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto at Uhuru’s Gatundu home. Publicly, the discussions were framed around national issues, but insiders suggested deeper political strategy was at play.
Reports indicated Ruto sought Uhuru’s influence to rebuild support in the Mt Kenya region, especially after the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua months earlier. One proposal involved appointing Muhoho to Cabinet to counter rising opposition figures and consolidate alliances.
Sources close to the Kenyatta family revealed talks also covered preparations for future elections and navigating the shifting dynamics in the region.
Outcome: Muhoho Stays Out of Government
Despite the buzz, Muhoho never accepted any Cabinet role or entered government. He remained outside formal politics, keeping his distance from the spotlight.
Ngunyi’s claims portray these developments as interconnected pieces in a broader Kenyatta strategy to revive family influence through Muhoho in 2032, using party realignments, short-term candidacies, and past reconciliatory overtures as building blocks. Whether this long-game vision materializes remains a subject of intense political speculation.
