Airtel Kenya Launches ‘Refer and Earn’ Programme Offering Up to Ksh100 Per User
Airtel Kenya has unveiled a new customer acquisition campaign that allows subscribers to earn cash rewards for referring new users to the MyAirtel App, in a move aimed at boosting digital engagement and uptake of its mobile services.

Under the “Refer and Earn” initiative, existing customers can receive up to Ksh100 for each successful referral, paid out in instalments over five months. The company says the programme is designed to incentivise peer-to-peer promotion while rewarding customer loyalty.
Airtel Kenya explained that users simply need to share a unique referral link or code—via platforms such as WhatsApp or other messaging channels—with friends and family. Once a new user downloads and registers on the MyAirtel App using that code, the referring customer begins to accumulate earnings.
However, the full payout is conditional. According to the firm, customers will receive Ksh20 per month for each referral over a five-month period, provided the referred user spends at least Ksh100 monthly via Airtel Money on services such as airtime or data bundles.
“This structure ensures that both the referrer and the new user remain actively engaged on the platform,” Airtel Kenya said in a statement, adding that the model promotes sustained usage rather than one-time sign-ups.
Free Data Incentive for New Users
To further sweeten the deal, new users who download and register on the app will receive 1GB of free data, offering an immediate benefit and encouraging onboarding.
Industry observers note that such incentives are becoming increasingly common among telecom operators seeking to deepen digital adoption and compete in Kenya’s highly competitive mobile market.
Exclusive App-Only Offers
Beyond the referral programme, Airtel Kenya has also bundled a range of app-exclusive deals intended to enhance the MyAirtel App’s value proposition.
Among the standout offers are:
- 2GB of data for Ksh99, valid for three days
- A Midnight Bundle of 2GB for Ksh50
- A 4GB bundle for Ksh99
These packages are not available through other purchase channels, positioning the app as the primary gateway for discounted services.
Customers who transact via Airtel Money—whether purchasing airtime or bundles—also receive a 25 per cent bonus, further incentivising digital payments within the ecosystem.
Expanded Features and Convenience
The MyAirtel App has also been upgraded to integrate a wide range of services in one place. Users can:
- Send money across networks
- Pay bills and merchants nationwide
- Access “Global Scan & Pay” directly from the home screen
- Manage home broadband accounts in real time
- Deposit funds into Airtel Money via bank transfers or agents
Additionally, the app includes privacy features such as the ability to hide or display Airtel Money balances on the main screen.
Postpaid customers are also catered for, with options to settle bills for their own or other numbers, alongside merchant payments through Lipa na Airtel Money.
Earning Potential
Airtel Kenya highlighted the potential earnings for active users, noting that referring 50 users who meet the monthly transaction requirement could yield up to Ksh5,000 over time.
The programme is open to all Airtel Kenya subscribers aged 18 and above.

“This is one of the simplest ways for customers to earn while using everyday mobile services,” the company added.
