Amisi Calls Out Ichung’wah Over ODM Cap Photo, Demands Swift Action from UDA
Kenyan politics entered another turbulent phase as Saboti MP Caleb Amisi called on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to take disciplinary action against Members of Parliament accused of drifting toward the opposition.
In a strongly worded statement shared on X on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Amisi warned that several legislators had lost faith in the ruling party that helped them secure their seats.
“These leaders no longer believe in the party that brought them to parliament,” Amisi said. “The UDA machinery must move with speed and commence the process of their removal from the party membership list and subsequently relieve them of their positions in parliament.”
He underscored the need for immediate action, arguing that tolerance for disloyalty could weaken UDA’s internal cohesion. “It is so written,” he declared, reinforcing his stance on enforcing party discipline.
Amisi went further, linking his call to a larger vision for political accountability and renewal. “Kenya needs a renaissance!” he said, framing the issue as part of a broader push for reform and principled leadership.
His remarks come amid growing tension within UDA following reports that some senior figures have been seen associating with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). During a women’s empowerment fund drive in Ugunja Constituency on November 8, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot were photographed wearing ODM-branded caps — a move interpreted as a show of solidarity with the opposition.
With the Ugunja by-election approaching, Amisi’s demand for swift action highlights UDA’s struggle to maintain unity while navigating shifting political loyalties. His call also signals a deepening debate over the direction of Kenya’s ruling party and its commitment to enforcing discipline among its ranks.
