DCI Releases Enhanced Images of Key Person of Interest in Murder Probe of PCEA Reverend Julius Ndumia

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has intensified its hunt for those behind the brutal killing of PCEA cleric Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari, releasing enhanced images of a key person of interest as detectives seek fresh leads in the high-profile murder investigation.
In a statement issued on Friday, June 5, investigators appealed to members of the public to help identify an individual believed to hold crucial information that could unlock new developments in the case and lead detectives to additional suspects.
The murder of Reverend Ndumia, who served at PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub-County, shocked the local community when it occurred on May 3, sparking widespread calls for justice and swift action from law enforcement agencies.
As part of ongoing investigations, the DCI published two images of the individual. The first image was obtained during the course of investigations, while the second was digitally enhanced to improve visibility and assist with identification efforts.
“As investigations progress, detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an individual captured in the images below,” the DCI said in its statement.
“The first image is the original photograph obtained during investigations, while the second is a digitally enhanced version generated from the original image to improve visibility of identifiable features.”
According to investigators, both images depict the same individual, who is regarded as a person of interest in the case.
“Both images depict the same individual, who is considered a person of interest and is believed to possess information that could significantly advance the investigation and assist in identifying additional accomplices,” the statement added.
Detectives have urged anyone who may recognise the individual or possess information that could assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station or submit information anonymously through the DCI’s Fichua Kwa DCI reporting platform.
The appeal comes as detectives continue pursuing multiple leads in what authorities describe as a complex investigation involving several individuals.
The DCI confirmed that inquiries into the killing remain active, with investigators profiling additional persons of interest as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the clergyman’s death.
Meanwhile, the agency also provided an update on two suspects who were earlier arrested in connection with the murder.
According to investigators, the arrests followed extensive forensic examinations and intelligence-led operations conducted by specialised investigative units. Authorities believe the suspects are linked to a notorious criminal gang allegedly involved in a series of robberies across Nakuru County.

Following the completion of investigations involving the two suspects, detectives submitted the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for review and legal guidance.
Acting on recommendations from prosecutors, the suspects were arraigned before the Nakuru Law Courts, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
The case is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on June 17 as investigators continue efforts to identify additional individuals who may have played a role in the killing or possess information critical to the case.
The murder of Reverend Ndumia remains one of the most closely watched criminal investigations in Nakuru, with authorities expressing confidence that ongoing forensic and intelligence operations will help uncover the full truth behind the cleric’s death.
