Family Reveals Heartbreaking Details of Betty Bayo’s Final Days Before Her Death
Kenyan gospel artist Betty Bayo has died after a short illness, her family confirmed on Monday. The beloved singer passed away at 1:03 p.m. at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) private wing, where she had been receiving treatment.
Speaking to the press, the family’s spokesperson said they wanted to end speculation surrounding Bayo’s condition.
“We want to tell the public that today at 1:03 p.m., we lost Betty Bayo. It is no longer a rumour, it is the truth,” the spokesperson said.
According to the family, Betty had been unwell since last week and was diagnosed with acute blood cancer. Doctors at KNH reportedly fought to control her bleeding and stabilize her condition, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
“She was transferred here on Friday. The doctors have tried their best, but the will of God has prevailed,” the spokesperson added.
The family also announced that arrangements are underway to move her body from Kenyatta National Hospital to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, where further preparations will be made.
“We are planning to move her body from Kenyatta National Hospital to KU Referral, and all other communications will come later,” they said.
Bayo’s family described her as a loving and compassionate person whose life and music deeply touched those around her.
“The life of our dear friend… rest in peace, we loved you, but God loved you more,” the spokesperson said in a heartfelt message.
News of her death has left fans and fellow gospel musicians mourning across Kenya’s music community. Details of her burial and memorial services will be announced later.
Betty Bayo will be remembered for her inspirational songs and the hope and faith she shared through her music.
