FKF Sounds Alarm on Fake Ticket Sales Ahead of Kenya vs Gambia World Cup Qualifier

Football fans planning to attend Kenya’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers have been warned to be cautious after fake ticketing websites emerged to dupe unsuspecting supporters.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Wednesday, September 3, sounded the alarm over fraudsters who have created fake online platforms with fake till numbers to cash in on the high demand for tickets.

According to FKF, the only legitimate platform to buy tickets is the Tikiti platform, which does not require fans to manually input a paybill number. For those who prefer offline transactions, tickets can also be accessed via the USSD code 51955#.

This comes at a time when Kenyan football is at an all-time high. We just hosted the African Nations Championship (CHAN) with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Kenya in particular got praise from CAF after thousands of fans turned up for almost every match, including the final.

With Harambee Stars set to return after a long break, demand for tickets is high. Kenya will start their campaign against Gambia on September 5 at Kasarani, before facing Seychelles four days later.

Meanwhile, Nyayo Stadium will host a late night Group F match between Gambia and Burundi on 10pm under the lights.

After their home matches, Kenya—coached by Benni McCarthy—will travel for away matches against Burundi on October 6 and Ivory Coast a week later.

As of Wednesday afternoon, tickets for the Kenya vs Gambia match priced at Ksh300 had sold out. Remaining categories are silver at Ksh500, gold at Ksh1,000 and VIP at Ksh2,000.
