Gen Z Goliath Lands Netflix Role in Romania, Takes East African Fame Global
Bradley Marongo, otherwise fondly referred to as the “Gen Z Goliath,” has initiated a major career milestone with his latest announcement: he is now heading to Bucharest, Romania, to film his first-ever television show and appear in a Netflix film for the first time.
The 27-year-old Marongo went on Instagram Stories on Tuesday morning, June 10, 2025, to share the announcement. He shared photos and videos at the airport, revealing his excitement for the trip abroad.
“Jetting off to Bucharest, Romania at 1 am tonight! So pumped to film for a TV show & my first Netflix movie! Huge shoutout to my incredible management team and a special thank you to the Romanian Ambassador in Kenya for the warm support!” he wrote.
Bradley Marongo rose to prominence in August 2024, during the Gen Z demonstrations in Kenya, after clips of him—towering over eight feet high and above the crowds—went viral on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and X (previously Twitter). His calm demeanor and gigantic height led to him becoming an instant sensation and earned him the label “Gen Z Goliath.”
A native of Majengo in Vihiga County, Marongo’s upbringing was marred by economic hardships. He migrated to Nairobi in search of work, performing the duties of a luggage carrier and a matatu conductor in Kangemi. Despite constant efforts to always get clothes, shoes, and furniture that could fit his body, Marongo never lost hope.
His newfound fame opened up opportunities for brand endorsements and interviews across Kenya. Companies such as Khushi Motors, Mobile-Hub Kenya, and Bespoke City Exclusive partnered with him, with the latter even creating a suit to accommodate his peculiar physique.
Marongo traveled to Dubai in January 2025 on business and pleasure, where he did not stop making headlines. During his stay, he was gifted a Ksh200,000 iPhone 15 Pro Max by the famous Zam Zam brothers, UAE electronics tycoons. The gift, which was videotaped and posted on his Facebook page on February 7, followed a banter where Marongo joked about returning to Kenya.
Throughout his accelerated career, Marongo has spoken out on the physical and social difficulties of being extremely tall, such as wearing EU size 50 shoes and finding the appropriate bed. Nevertheless, he continues to use his platform to promote self-acceptance and confidence.
“People stare at me, but I’ve learned to accept who I am. I’m proud of myself,” he once shared publicly.
With production about to start in Romania, Marongo’s path indicates an increasing global footprint and the possibility of additional international collaboration. His recent foray into TV and film is a new development in a journey that started with one viral video less than a year ago.
Additional news on the TV show and Netflix project will be available in the next few weeks.
