Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga Breaks Silence After Death Rumours Spread Following Road Crash
It started with a road accident. Then came the whispers. And within hours, social media had already declared him dead.
But Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga is alive — and he wants everyone to know it.
On Sunday morning, February 15, the legislator survived a road crash while travelling to Kitengela for a political rally. What followed, however, may have shocked him even more than the accident itself: claims circulating online that he had passed away.
So he did what many leaders don’t always do in moments like this — he picked up his phone and spoke directly to the people.
The Early Morning Crash on the Way to Kitengela
The Majimbo Kalasinga accident happened at around 7:00 a.m. in Nakuru. He was on his way to Nairobi, heading to Kitengela for a meeting organised by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
It was meant to be a routine political engagement. A normal Sunday schedule. Then — everything changed.
In a video message shared shortly after the crash, Kalasinga addressed the situation head-on.
“I have received many calls because I had an accident today (Sunday) at around 7:00 a.m. in Nakuru while I was heading to Nairobi to attend Edwin Sifuna’s meeting in Kitengela,” he said.
You could almost feel the urgency behind his words. The calls hadn’t stopped. Supporters were worried. Some were grieving a man who was very much alive.
“I Am Well; I Am Safe” — MP Dismisses Death Claims
Rumours travel fast. Faster than facts. And before long, online chatter suggested the Kabuchai MP had died from the accident.
That’s when he decided enough was enough.
“As I speak right now, I am well; I am safe. I have decided to address my people of Kabuchai to remove any worries because some people have said that I have died. I am okay, only my arm was broken. But the doctors have done a good job and I think I am safe,” he added.
A broken arm. Yes. But stable. Recovering.
There was relief in his voice — and maybe a bit of disbelief too. Imagine waking up from an accident only to learn the internet has already written your obituary.
Still, Kalasinga remained composed. He reassured his constituents that he had received medical attention and was on the path to recovery.
A Pattern of Political Road Accidents?
Interestingly, Kalasinga’s accident comes just two weeks after Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri was also involved in a road crash.
Rindikiri’s incident occurred at Siraji Timau along the Meru-Nanyuki Road. He was travelling to attend President William Ruto’s NYOTA Capital Disbursement event at Kinoru Stadium in Meru County when the accident happened.
In his case, another vehicle carrying Catholic sisters was also involved. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
“My team and I appreciate the concern shown following a road incident. We are all safe and doing well. I am also glad to report that those in the other vehicle, which was carrying Catholic sisters, are doing well. Thank you to my constituents and fellow Kenyans for the prayers and goodwill,” he said.
Two separate incidents. Two different counties. Both ending without tragedy — but not without alarm.
It raises quiet questions, doesn’t it? Long road trips. Tight political schedules. Early morning travel. The risks are real.
Relief Among Supporters
For Kalasinga’s supporters in Kabuchai, the relief is palpable. News of an MP’s death — even if unverified — spreads like wildfire, and panic sets in quickly.
This time, at least, the story ends differently.
He’s injured, yes. But alive. Recovering. Grateful.
And perhaps most importantly, present to tell his own story.
In an era where rumours often outrun truth, sometimes the most powerful thing a leader can say is simple:
I’m here. I’m okay.
