Kenya Releases 2025 KJSEA Results: How Learners Can Check Online and via SMS
The Ministry of Education has officially released the 2025 Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA) results, providing multiple platforms for learners, parents, and schools to access their scores.
Speaking on Thursday, December 11, Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) CEO David Njengere confirmed that results can now be checked both online and via SMS.
“Learners, parents, and schools can access the KJSEA results through our online portal or by SMS,” Njengere said. “We encourage all users to save or print a copy of the result slip for future reference. Schools will also issue printed copies to learners.”
To check the results online, users should visit the Ministry’s official selection portal at https://selection.education.go.ke/my-selections
. Once there, entering the learner’s assessment number in the designated field will display the full results, including subject scores and placement details.
For those without internet access, an SMS option has been made available. To receive a learner’s selected school details, send their assessment number to 22263. Each SMS costs Ksh30.
Njengere also provided insight into the scale of this year’s assessment. He revealed that a total of 1,130,587 candidates were registered for the 2025 KJSEA, representing 24,366 junior secondary schools across Kenya. In addition, a qualifying test was administered to 2,032 Grade 9 learners who were entering the system from other countries or educational programs.
“These learners were required to be assessed because they had either not been registered for KPSEA or had missed it for various reasons,” Njengere explained.
He further highlighted the extensive marking process, noting the significant manpower involved. “For the structured questions, we engaged 11,239 examiners who were hosted in 21 marking centres. Concurrently, the multiple-choice questions were scored using our machine scoring system here at the council,” he said.
The 2025 KJSEA results mark a significant milestone in Kenya’s education system, ensuring that all junior secondary learners are assessed and placed in appropriate schools across the country.
