UDA Deputy Secretary General Daniel Ole Sambu is Dead

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced the passing of its Deputy Secretary General, Daniel Ole Sambu, a prominent figure in Kenya’s political and wildlife conservation circles. The party confirmed the news on Thursday, paying tribute to Ole Sambu’s contributions to both the UDA and national wildlife protection efforts.

In a statement issued by UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, Ole Sambu was described as “a key pillar of our party” whose dedication to democratic principles and grassroots mobilisation had been instrumental in strengthening the party’s foundation.

“It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that, on behalf of the entire UDA Party family, we convey our condolences following the passing of our Deputy Secretary General, Daniel Ole Sambu,” the statement read.

“Ole Sambu was not just a colleague in leadership but a strong pillar of our party, a dedicated democrat who has stood with the ideals of our Party. His strategic insight, unwavering commitment to the growth of our party, and relentless work in building our structures from the grassroots are invaluable.”

The UDA extended condolences to Ole Sambu’s family and relatives, pledging support during this difficult period. “In this moment of immense grief, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and relatives. The UDA fraternity shares in your loss and pledges our support during this most difficult time of grief. We pray that God grants the family strength and fortitude to bear the loss and offer our sincere condolences,” the statement added.

Just a month prior to his passing, Ole Sambu hosted President William Ruto at the Maa Cultural and Tourism Festival in Amboseli. During the event, Ruto visited the Big Life Foundation stand, where Ole Sambu served as the national coordinator, highlighting his commitment to wildlife conservation alongside his political work.

The news of Ole Sambu’s death comes at a sensitive time for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, which is still mourning the death of Denar Joseph Hamisi, a nominated Member of Parliament under the Amani National Congress (ANC) who passed away at the age of 56.

Hamisi, who was nominated to the National Assembly following the 2022 General Election, was remembered for his service on the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture and the Select Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities, where he was praised for his diligence and commitment.

On Thursday, Members of Parliament, led by Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya and accompanied by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Samuel Njoroge, joined Hamisi’s family, friends, and members of the public at Ridgeways Baptist Church for his requiem Mass.

Born in 1969 in Kinango, Kwale County, Hamisi attended Mombasa Baptist High School from 1984 to 1989, completing both his Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) and Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) examinations.

The political community continues to mourn these losses, reflecting on the significant contributions both men made to Kenya’s political landscape and public service.
