KMTC Explains Why Thousands of Course Transfer Requests May Have Gone Unanswered as Students Raise Alarm
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has finally addressed growing concerns from students who say they have waited months without receiving feedback on their course and campus transfer applications.
The clarification comes after a wave of complaints from applicants who claimed they had submitted transfer requests but had not received any communication regarding the status of their applications, some reporting delays of nearly three months.
In a statement responding to the concerns, KMTC explained that course and campus transfer requests are not automatically approved and are instead dependent on the availability of vacancies in the preferred programmes or campuses.
According to the institution, applicants who have not received any communication regarding their requests should understand that their applications were unsuccessful due to a lack of available slots.
“Please note that a course change is subject to the availability of vacancies in the preferred programme. If your request has not been successful, it means that no vacancy is currently available in the course you selected,” KMTC stated.
The institution further clarified that the same conditions apply to students seeking transfers from one campus to another, with approvals only granted where space is available.
The response followed concerns raised by a student who questioned why applicants were not being informed about the outcome of their requests despite waiting for several weeks.
The student argued that applicants deserve formal feedback regardless of whether their requests are approved or rejected, saying prolonged silence leaves many uncertain about their academic future and next steps.
KMTC’s explanation is expected to provide clarity to hundreds of students who have been anxiously awaiting updates on their applications.
The college has maintained that all transfer requests are processed through its official admissions system and that approvals depend entirely on available capacity within the desired programme or campus.
How to Apply for a KMTC Course or Campus Transfer
Students wishing to request a course or campus transfer are required to submit their applications through the KMTC online admissions portal.
Applicants must:
• Log in to the KMTC Admissions Portal using their credentials.
• Navigate to the services menu and select either “Course Transfer” or “Campus Transfer”.
• Fill in the required details and submit the application.
• Await communication through SMS regarding the outcome of the request.
The latest clarification comes amid growing calls for the institution to improve communication with students and provide timely updates on transfer applications, even when requests cannot be accommodated due to limited vacancies.
