KMTC Opens September Intake Applications After KUCCPS Green Light as Thousands Race Against August Deadline
Thousands of aspiring healthcare professionals can now begin their journey into Kenya’s medical sector after the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) officially opened applications for its September 2026 intake through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
The application exercise comes only days after KMTC students completed their Final Qualifying and End-of-Semester examinations, clearing the way for a new class of trainees expected to report to campuses across the country later this year.
According to KUCCPS, applications for KMTC pre-service programmes officially opened through the KUCCPS Student Portal, with prospective students given until August 11, 2026, to submit their applications.
Applicants seeking admission into in-service and upgrading programmes have instead been directed to apply through the official KMTC Admissions Portal.
The announcement is expected to trigger a rush among school leavers and other eligible applicants seeking places at one of Kenya’s largest public medical training institutions, which produces thousands of healthcare workers annually.
Warning After Fake Admission Notice
The latest admission announcement comes only weeks after KMTC warned Kenyans against a fraudulent admission poster that had been circulating widely on social media.
The fake notice falsely claimed applications had opened for numerous medical programmes, including Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Radiography and Public Health, among other health-related courses.
KMTC dismissed the poster as fake and urged prospective students not to rely on unofficial information circulating online.
The college cautioned applicants against making decisions based on unverified social media posts, stressing that all admission information should only be obtained through its official communication channels.
“Applicants seeking admission into pre-service programmes should apply through the KUCCPS Student Portal, while those applying for in-service and upgrading programmes should use the official KMTC Admissions Portal,” the guidance states.

KMTC remains the country’s leading public institution for training middle-level healthcare professionals and plays a critical role in supplying hospitals, health centres and other healthcare facilities with skilled personnel.

Prospective applicants have been urged to complete their applications before the August 11 deadline and verify all admission information through official KUCCPS and KMTC platforms to avoid falling victim to online scams and fraudulent admission advertisements.
