KURA Announces Temporary Nighttime Traffic Disruption Along Ngong Road for Flyover Works
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption along Ngong Road near the Junction Mall area starting November 18.
The agency said in a notice on Thursday that the disruption will run until December 10 to facilitate the erection of a steel structure for the ongoing flyover project.
KURA said works will be conducted daily from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., except on Sundays.
Traffic will be diverted between the Nairobi City County Training School and Kenya Science Campus to accommodate two-way movement during the construction period.
Motorists have been urged to exercise caution and follow instructions from police officers and traffic marshals deployed to manage traffic.
The Ngong Road–Naivasha Road flyover project began in September 2024 and is expected to be completed by July 2027.
The Ksh3.58 billion project is funded through a loan from Spain’s Corporate International Fund (FIEM).
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said earlier that the flyover is part of the government’s infrastructure modernization programme and will improve traffic flow near Junction Mall.
The project will include four lanes on the upper level and six below, along with 23 traffic lights to enhance safety and efficiency.
Omollo said the project will also improve access to the upcoming Talanta Stadium..
