The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has announced reduced entry fees for students visiting several national parks and reserves, cutting the cost of educational trips by up to 33 per cent ahead of the November school-trip season.
Under the new offer, students will pay as little as KSh200 to access a number of Kenya’s wildlife and scenic destinations, with the discounted rates available to learners from nursery school through tertiary institutions, including universities.
KWS announced the promotion on Wednesday, September 16, saying students visiting Amboseli National Park and Lake Nakuru National Park will pay KSh500, down from KSh750.
The reduction represents a 33 per cent discount, potentially lowering the cost of school excursions to two of Kenya’s best-known wildlife destinations.
Students visiting Nairobi National Park, Tsavo East National Park and Tsavo West National Park will also benefit, with the entry fee reduced to KSh400, compared with the previous KSh500 charge.
Other destinations have been placed under a KSh200 student entry rate. They include Hell’s Gate, Mount Longonot, Mount Elgon, Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park, Lake Elementaita Wildlife Sanctuary, Shimba Hills and Kakamega National Reserve.
KWS encouraged teachers and schools to take advantage of the promotion, particularly those that have been planning educational trips throughout the school year.
“Teachers!! You’ve been planning educational trips since the first term, surely! The kids want to see wildlife. We have offers!” KWS stated.
The agency said the offer includes 33 per cent off entry fees at Amboseli and Lake Nakuru, while Nairobi, Tsavo East and Tsavo West are available at 20 per cent off.
A further 20 per cent discount applies to Hell’s Gate, Mount Longonot and several other scenic destinations, bringing the student entry fee to KSh200.
Children Under Six to Enter Free
KWS has also announced a benefit for schools travelling with younger children.
Children aged below six years will be admitted free of charge under the promotional arrangement, potentially providing additional savings for schools taking nursery and early-years learners on educational excursions.
The discounted rates are specifically available to schools and students from nursery level through tertiary education, including university students.
Offer Runs Until November 30
The promotional rates will remain in effect until November 30, 2026, giving schools a limited period to organise and undertake their visits.
KWS said the initiative is aimed at making visits to Kenya’s wildlife and conservation sites more affordable while giving learners an opportunity to experience the country’s natural heritage first-hand.
Schools experiencing difficulties accessing the discounted services have been advised to contact KWS directly through its toll-free number, 0800 597 000, or the agency’s customer service channels.
