MOGO Ltd Announces Auction of 17 Vehicles as Prices Start From Just KSh 320k

Kenyan digital lender MOGO Auto Limited has announced plans to auction 17 motor vehicles across several major towns, offering potential buyers a rare chance to acquire cars at forced-sale values.

In a public notice, the asset financing firm confirmed that the vehicles will be available for public viewing at its designated car yards in Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa and Meru, ahead of the submission of sealed bids.

The auction, which was advertised in The Standard newspaper on Wednesday, January 14, forms part of MOGO’s routine asset recovery process, typically linked to financed vehicles that have been repossessed.

According to the notice, interested bidders are required to physically inspect the vehicles before placing their offers, with MOGO emphasising that all units will be sold strictly “as-is, where-is”, with no warranties or guarantees provided.

“Viewing of the motor vehicles will take place at MOGO car yards. For directions or to confirm any details, please call 0114823694,” the company stated.

MOGO further clarified that bids must be submitted either electronically or through sealed tenders, underscoring the importance of proper identification and contact details.

“Bids must be submitted either by email to cars.sales@mogo.co.ke — ensuring the bidder’s mobile number is included — or in a sealed envelope clearly labelled ‘Tender for Motor Vehicle’ and addressed to Mogo Auto Ltd, Pinetree, Kaburu Drive, P.O. Box 9979-00100, Nairobi,” the notice added.

The vehicles on offer range from economy hatchbacks to luxury saloons and SUVs, with forced values starting from as low as KSh 320,000 and rising to KSh 1.26 million, depending on the model, year of manufacture, and location.

Among the notable listings are a 2014 Mercedes-Benz C180, a 2013 Toyota Crown, a 2008 Mitsubishi Pajero, and a 2010 Honda Fit, alongside popular models such as the Toyota Probox, Vitz, Avensis, Townace, and Harrier.

Industry observers note that vehicle auctions by digital lenders have become increasingly common in Kenya, driven by rising default rates and tighter credit conditions in the asset financing sector.

MOGO has urged all interested buyers to adhere strictly to the bidding instructions, warning that late or improperly submitted bids may be rejected.
