MultiChoice Kenya Cuts DStv, GOtv Decoder Prices to Regain Lost Subscribers
MultiChoice Kenya has slashed prices for its DStv and GOtv decoders and installation kits in a bid to attract customers after a sharp fall in subscriptions.
The DStv Zapper decoder now costs Sh850, down from Sh1,199, while the GOtv decoder price has dropped to Sh799 from Sh999. The DStv Dish Kit will retail at Sh1,650, and the GOtv antenna at Sh700, both reduced from previous prices.
The discounts, effective until December 31, 2025, apply across all MultiChoice service centres, dealers and retailers.
Managing Director Nzola Miranda said the offer is aimed at making entertainment “more accessible” and thanking customers for their loyalty.
MultiChoice has struggled in Kenya, losing over 80% of its subscribers in the year to June 2025, with active DStv users falling to 188,824 from 1.19 million a year earlier. Many households have switched to cheaper or illegal streaming options.
The price cuts follow several subscription fee increases in recent years and come weeks after French media firm Canal+ completed a 94.39% takeover of MultiChoice.
The company hopes the festive discounts will help recover lost market share and draw price-sensitive viewers back to its pay TV platforms.
