NPSC Warns Public After Scammers Target 10,000 Constable Recruitment Drive
NPSC is in trouble again, just days after settling the standoff with National Police Service over the recruitment of 10,000 police constables.
In a statement on Tuesday, the commission warned against fake recruitment links online and told would-be applicants not to use them.
NPSC said official announcements will only be made through its website, mainstream media and verified social media platforms.
“The Commission has noted with concern a fraudulent recruitment notice being shared on social media claiming to announce recruitment of police constables and directing applicants to an unauthorised online portal,” part of the statement read.
It advised the public to ignore the false information and wait for communication through official channels.
Although details of the online application process are yet to be released, NPSC confirmed that the recruitment dates will be announced on September 11. The commission also assured Kenyans that preparations for a real exercise are underway.
“The Commission urges the public to be cautious and ignore misleading messages designed to dupe applicants,” the statement concluded.
On Saturday, NPSC chairperson Amani Komora after a meeting with Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed that the upcoming recruitment will follow the National Police Service Commission Recruitment and Appointment Regulations Act, 2025.
One of the requirements under the Act is that all applicants must apply online first before the nationwide field recruitment.
This is after weeks of wrangling between the commission’s uniformed and non-uniformed members which had stalled the process.
Successful applicants will report to police colleges across the country on November 17, finally addressing the staffing shortage that has been going on since 2022.
