Prophet Owuor’s Official Page Gets Hacked — Followers Blame Evil Spirits
Prophet David Owuor’s official Facebook page has been hacked and his followers are confused and angry.
Members of the Repentance and Holiness Ministry were shocked to see unusual activity on the prophet’s verified page which has over 178,000 followers.
Screenshots circulating online showed that the page’s profile picture had been changed to a still from Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) a post-apocalyptic action film. The image was a man in armoured gear riding a motorcycle with a skull on it, with a woman with a prosthetic arm, against the backdrop of exploding trucks – a far cry from Prophet Owuor’s white robes and spiritual persona.
Tech outlet TNX Africa confirmed that the page had been hacked. Church members flooded the comment section with warnings, telling others to ignore any posts from the hacked page.
Some followers attributed the hack to spiritual forces, saying it was an attack on their leader’s divine mission. One follower wrote: “Why fear the wind when the roots are deeper?” Another wrote: “On a day of receiving from a mighty mission, the devil is also working hard.”
Prophet Owuor, a former molecular genetics scientist who claims to have received a divine calling in 2003 is the founder of the Repentance and Holiness Ministry. He is known for his nationwide crusades, healing rallies and strict calls for repentance. To his followers he is “the Mightiest Prophet of Jehovah” but critics say he lives large while projecting humility.
His ministry has been in the news for his fervent followers who sometimes clean roads in anticipation of his motorcades and his controversial prophecies of global catastrophes.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by authorities on the hack or the security of the compromised page.
