Ruto Tells Men Over 25 to Marry, Internet Roasts His Own Kids Instead
President William Ruto took center stage at the wedding of Qillian Ndeso Saiya and Moses Budamba Mudavadi at Ulinzi Sports Complex on Saturday, delivering a message that many young men might find… a little rich in irony.
Addressing the men in attendance, Ruto didn’t mince words: “Those of you above the age of 25, get married. Wacha kuzunguka hapa, unatoka kwa club hii inaingia kwa club hiyo, unatoka kwa club hiyo unaenda kwa club hiyo ingine.” In other words, stop club-hopping and start a family.
The message drew laughter from the audience, but not everyone is laughing in agreement. Observers quickly pointed out the elephant in the room: the president’s own daughter, Charlene Ruto, is 32 and unmarried. And let’s not forget George Ruto—also over 25 and still single.
The president’s call for responsibility and courage comes with a side of unintentional irony. While urging others to marry, he himself presides over a household where his adult children are yet to settle down, sparking a flood of humorous social media commentary.
Mavin Mabonga joked: “Omwami, not anytime soon, even our big sister Charlene Ruto is 32 and not married. Until we stabilize our economy, else we’ll have other people’s daughters suffer in our own hands. ‘LAUGH EMOJI’”
And the irony doesn’t stop there. One user @DanChepta said, “One year and eight months ago, Charlene Ruto received prayers from evangelist Benny Hinn for marriage—yet she remains single, while the president advises young men to take action instead of “running away from responsibility.”
President Ruto’s speech, meant to celebrate love and family, inadvertently highlighted the gap between advice and practice, leaving many to wonder if he’s issuing commands or gently teasing his own children in public.
Omwamba 🇰🇪 summed up the online mood perfectly: “Do you agree with President Ruto that men above 25 should stop club-hopping and get married? Charlene Ruto and George Ruto are above 25 and still single. Hypocrisy much?”
In the end, what was supposed to be a proud celebration for the Mudavadi family turned into a subtle comedy of irony—proving that even presidents can give advice that seems… a bit aspirational when compared to their own household.
