‘THEY FIRED BULLETS AT ME’ Governor claims he was targeted in violent plot after standing up to corruption cartel
KIAMBU Governor Kimani Wamatangi has launched an explosive attack on powerful elites, claiming he has faced “court summons, police cells, and even gunfire” in a terrifying campaign of intimidation.
The county chief made the extraordinary allegations during a fiery public address in Ndumberi Ward on Wednesday, August 5, where he was commissioning a local solar streetlighting initiative.
Mr Wamatangi claimed he has become a prime target for shadowy figures and corrupt officials because of his unyielding crusade against public land grabbing in Kiambu County.
In an emotional address to residents, the governor lifted the lid on the relentless ordeal he claims to have suffered simply for protecting local property rights.
“Sometimes I am hunted down like a man with no allies. Sometimes dragged to court, sometimes thrown into a cell. At times, bullets have even been fired at me,” Mr Wamatangi declared.
“All this because I stood firm and said the theft of public property is wrong, and that the land belonging to our people will not be stolen by those we elected.”
The first-term governor launched a blistering assault on corrupt officials whom he accused of exploiting their positions of power to line their own pockets at the expense of ordinary taxpayers.
“A person gets a state salary, gets power, and then wants to swallow the land of ordinary citizens,” he shouted to the crowd. “I said NO!”
‘POLITICS IS ON HOLD’
In a sudden plot twist, Mr Wamatangi announced he is immediately stepping back from all political infighting to focus entirely on his development agenda for the county.
He begged local residents for forgiveness as he vowed to freeze political maneuvering until late in the year.
“Please forgive me, people of Kiambu, but I have said I am not doing politics right now,” the governor announced.
“When we reach December, I will jump back into politics. But right now, my focus is entirely on finishing the work for our people.”
He reassured constituents that his administration remains rock-solid in its commitment to protecting public resources and delivering on flagship infrastructure projects before re-entering the political fray later this year.
