SMS Drama: Salasya Shares Onyonka’s Warning Text, Slams it as Political Threat
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has publicly confronted Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka after the lawmaker allegedly sent him a private SMS warning him over his political moves.
Known for his fiery style and constant social media presence, Salasya didn’t hold back. He shared a screenshot of the purported message from Onyonka, sparking a fresh round of political drama.
What Sparked the Clash?
The tension appears to stem from Salasya’s recent claims that divisions within ODM are intentionally stoked and financially backed to distract Kenyans from pressing national issues. In the message he shared, Onyonka reportedly took issue with these remarks, cautioning Salasya about the potential fallout on his political future.
Salasya’s shared message reads:
“My message in Malava today has been clear that ODM is being funded both FACTION of ODM A and ODM B to continue confusing Kenyans to avoid Kenyans in discussing the bad healthcare system, Safaricom sale, kpc sale and issues directly affecting Kenyans, but instead to focus on who is to take what in odm party wealth inheritance. We must stop that nonsense of ODM.”
The Kisii senator is said to have added a direct warning:
“Bro why do u want to destroy your brilliant career!”
Salasya, however, was not impressed. He questioned Onyonka’s authority to issue such warnings, firing back:
“Do you have capacity to destroy it?”
Salasya Critiques New Political Movements
The Mumias East MP didn’t stop at defending himself. He tied the current political alignments to past experiments, pointing out that some leaders now backing Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s faction were once part of the Kenya Moja initiative.
Kenya Moja had emerged in late 2025 as a “third force,” promising an alternative to established political parties. But the initiative struggled nationally and eventually faded due to inconsistent messaging.
Salasya dismissed the newer Linda Mwananchi movement as unserious, openly questioning its leadership, structure, and financial backing. He contrasted it with his own presidential ambitions and nationwide outreach.
“Onyonka wachana tu na mimi juu mimi ni mulima, you did Kenya Moja failed terribly, then you have started Linda Mwananchi movement. Who are you to come in my inbox to threaten me politically? Nyinyi mko kwa jokes. Mimi nimetembea Kenya yote and very soon I’m starting it again. Kwanza Onyonka, who is the presidential candidate in your movement and who is oiling your movement? Yangu mimi ndio team leader and presidential candidate. Nyinyi hamujui munataka nini,” Salasya stated.
Salasya’s Nationwide Strategy
The MP, who has previously declared his presidential intentions, emphasized that his travels across the country are part of a deliberate strategy to build grassroots support ahead of 2027. His latest statements suggest he’s ready for political battles on all fronts, undeterred by warnings or rival factions.
