U.S. Embassy Nairobi Announces Multi-Million Job Openings for Kenyans as Salaries Hit Ksh5.6 Million

The United States government has announced a fresh round of high-paying job opportunities at the U.S. Embassy Nairobi, with some positions offering annual salaries of up to Ksh5.6 million.

In the latest recruitment notice published by the U.S. Department of State, the vacancies target qualified Kenyan professionals seeking employment within the American mission in Nairobi. The openings span several departments, including political affairs, protocol, administration and supply management.

Among the most lucrative positions advertised is that of Senior Political Specialist within the embassy’s Political Office, a role carrying an annual salary of approximately Ksh5.67 million.

According to the vacancy notice, the position is open to all interested applicants under the LE-1605-11 grade level, with successful candidates expected to serve as senior policy advisors on political and security matters affecting Kenya and the wider region.

The specialist will reportedly analyse political developments, advise senior diplomats on foreign policy objectives, coordinate high-level engagements and prepare detailed political reports for U.S. officials.

Applicants interested in the role have until May 22, 2026, to submit their applications.

The embassy has also advertised a Protocol Assistant position within the Executive Office, with the successful candidate set to earn between Ksh2.68 million and Ksh4.56 million annually depending on qualifications and prior experience.

The role has been opened to all qualified applicants and is expected to involve managing diplomatic protocol procedures, coordinating official visits, advising on etiquette and handling matters relating to precedence and official ceremonies.

According to the U.S. Department of State, the Protocol Assistant will play a key role in supporting diplomatic engagements at the embassy and ensuring compliance with international protocol standards.

Applications for the position will close on May 22.

Meanwhile, the embassy is also seeking to recruit a Supply Supervisor under the General Services Office (GSO), a position offering an annual salary of approximately Ksh1.94 million.

However, the role has been restricted to internal applicants only, with the application deadline set for May 21, 2026.

The Supply Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing procurement logistics, warehouse operations, inventory control and the distribution of supplies procured by the GSO procurement unit.

The latest recruitment drive comes amid increasing interest among Kenyan professionals seeking employment opportunities with foreign missions, many of which offer competitive salaries, international exposure and attractive employee benefits.

The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi remains one of the largest diplomatic missions in East Africa and frequently recruits Kenyan professionals across various sectors including diplomacy, administration, security, public affairs and development programs.
