US Releases AI Video Simulating Military Invasion of Nigeria to ‘Eliminate Islamic Terrorists’

The US Department of War has released an AI video of a military operation in Nigeria to “wipe out” what it calls “Islamic terrorists.”

The video surfaced late Saturday night, November 1 and was shared by Dominik Tarczyński, a Polish member of the European Parliament on X (formerly Twitter). “Nigerian Christians will be saved very soon!” Tarczyński captioned the post.

According to reports, US President Donald Trump told the Defence Department (renamed the Department of War during his administration) to prepare for “fast” military action in Nigeria if the government doesn’t stop the killing of Christians.

Nigeria has over 200 million people and is roughly divided between a Muslim north and a Christian south. The country has been battling Islamist insurgencies including Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province for over 15 years. These groups have carried out thousands of attacks, mostly in the northeast.

While Christians have been victims of the violence, experts say most of the victims have been Muslims living in areas heavily affected by insurgent activity. Beyond terrorism, Nigeria has conflicts between mostly Muslim herders and mainly Christian farmers in the central region and kidnappings in the northwest.

The release of the AI video has raised questions about US intentions in Africa and the use of AI in shaping public opinion on military interventions.
