Albert Ojwang’s Uncles Send Message to His Father on How He Should Handle His Mum or Face the Music
Tensions arose during the burial of slain blogger and teacher Albert Ojwang as his maternal uncles issued a stern warning to his father, Meshack Ojwang, to treat his wife, Eucabeth Ojwang, with respect after their son’s death.
Albert Ojwang, a renowned online commentator and educator, was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony attended by relatives, friends and members of Nyakach and surrounding communities. During the tribute segment, Eucabeth’s brothers addressed Meshack directly, calling for harmony in the marriage and warning against mistreating their sister.
“You have lived with our sister for over 30 years in peace. We, from Nyakach, want to tell you that even though Omondi is not around, live in peace with my sister,” said one of the uncles during the service. “It will not be good and easy for us if we hear there are issues. We will not take it lightly if there is any interference with our sister. Take it seriously.”
The family member also acknowledged past issues in the couple’s relationship and encouraged open communication. “If there are issues, like we heard, there were certain issues, talk them out. You respected us and we respected you. We did not want to interfere with anything. May you continue living in peace, and if it is hard, call us, we will help,” he added.
The uncle also urged Meshack and Eucabeth to “continue focusing on God because only He can heal them.”
In a dramatic moment, the uncle also warned those organizing the funeral that the Nyakach family had the right to take Albert’s body and bury him in their land, showing how much they loved and protected Eucabeth.
The incident has highlighted family dynamics that are often exposed during times of grief, especially in Kenyan communities where extended family plays a big role in marital relationships.
As the family mourns Albert’s death, calls for peace and healing are the way forward. No action has been taken by either side and it’s not clear if Meshack will respond publicly to the warnings.
Albert Ojwang’s cause of death is still a mystery and investigations are ongoing.
