Under the original framework, parents were expected to contribute Sh9,374 per learner in day secondary schools, while the government subsidized Sh12,870 per learner annually.
The announcement, detailed in a notice issued on Tuesday, December 23, comes as the first cohort of Junior School learners prepares to transition into the next phase
The Ministry confirmed that parents and guardians can now check the senior secondary schools their children have been placed in through an SMS service or the official placement portal.
According to the guidelines, such requests must be made at least two weeks before the official Grade 10 reporting date, which has been set for January 12, 2026.
The teachers staged demonstrations, demanding the immediate payment of their coordination allowances, which they say have not been disbursed despite weeks of work.
