Couple Alleges Wife’s Kidney Removed Without Consent During Hospital C-Section Birth
A couple has levelled serious allegations against a local hospital, claiming that a past medical procedure may have resulted in the removal of the wife’s kidney without her consent.
The couple, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter, spoke to reporters as they recounted their alarming discovery. According to the husband, the issue came to light only recently after his wife sought medical help for persistent health complications.
He explained that during a consultation with a kidney specialist, an ultrasound scan appeared to raise immediate concern. “The doctor kept focusing on one side,” he recalled, noting that the clinician’s unusual attention prompted him to ask whether something was amiss.
The specialist then informed him that the scan suggested his wife had only one functioning kidney. The revelation left the couple stunned, particularly because the wife had previously delivered four children without any major health issues. The husband said the complications traced back to three years earlier, shortly after the birth of their youngest child through a Caesarean section at the hospital now under scrutiny.
Seeking clarification, the husband waited to speak with the hospital’s chief doctor. However, he was dissatisfied with the explanation he received. “He told us some people are born with one kidney,” the husband said, adding that the response raised more questions than answers.
Unconvinced, the couple sought a second opinion. The independent specialist reportedly dismissed the suggestion that the missing kidney was a congenital anomaly, insisting such cases are exceptionally rare and typically identifiable much earlier in life. After examining the ultrasound images, the doctor confirmed the kidney’s absence and noted that if it had been diseased or damaged, medical imaging would still show signs of its remnants.
The husband said this assessment reinforced his suspicion that something may have occurred during the C-section delivery. “She had four children before without any complications. Everything changed after that operation,” he told reporters.
The couple is now calling for a full investigation into the hospital’s conduct, alleging that the kidney may have been removed without their knowledge or consent. They insist they will continue to push for accountability until they receive a clear and credible explanation for what happened.
