EPRA Assistant Director Silas Cheboi Dies, Authority Announces Burial Details
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is mourning the death of Silas Cheboi, its Assistant Director for Surveillance and Enforcement.
EPRA announced his death on August 13, 2026, describing the loss as a profound blow to the authority, his colleagues and those who worked closely with him.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mr Silas Cheboi, Assistant Director, Surveillance & Enforcement at the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA),” the authority stated.
EPRA added: “His passing is a profound loss to the Authority, his colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of working with him.”
Cheboi was remembered by the authority as a dedicated and professional officer who carried out his responsibilities with a strong commitment to integrity.
His role as Assistant Director for Surveillance and Enforcement placed him at the centre of EPRA’s efforts to monitor compliance with energy and petroleum regulations.
The department is responsible for enforcement activities including field inspections and investigations into suspected violations of energy laws and regulations. Such work can involve efforts to curb illegal petroleum activities, unlicensed operations, fuel-related malpractice and other forms of non-compliance.
EPRA said Cheboi’s commitment to the authority’s mandate was evident throughout his career and contributed to the work of the department.
His death has also left family members, friends and colleagues mourning the loss of an officer described as committed to his responsibilities.
The authority extended its condolences to his family, colleagues and all those affected by his passing.
EPRA has confirmed that Cheboi will be buried on August 15, 2026, at his Solian home in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.
“His body will be interred at his Solian Home, Eldama Ravine in Baringo County on 15th August 2026,” EPRA stated.
The burial is expected to bring together his family, colleagues, friends and other mourners to pay their final respects to the late EPRA official.
