Gachagua Demands CCTV Footage Following Murder of Reverend Ndumia

Gachagua Demands CCTV Footage Over Reverend Ndumia Killing as Pressure Mounts on Government

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified pressure on the government following the killing of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari, accusing security agencies and senior state officials of maintaining what he termed a “concerning silence” over the murder.

Speaking on Sunday, May 10, during a memorial service held at Presbyterian Church of East Africa Macedonia, Baraka Parish in Ongata Rongai, Gachagua questioned why authorities had not publicly addressed the circumstances surrounding the cleric’s death or released crucial surveillance footage that could aid investigations.

The former deputy president said the lack of communication from both the government and church leadership had unsettled members of the PCEA fraternity, many of whom are demanding answers over the killing.

“We cannot remain silent when such a thing happens to a servant of God. Silence only emboldens those responsible,” Gachagua told mourners.

He revealed that he had personally contacted the PCEA moderator to express concerns from congregants who feel the church had not spoken firmly enough about the incident.

“I told our moderator that many people feel this matter has not received sufficient attention from the church leadership. We must speak out because when you don’t speak, people become very bold,” he said.

Gachagua further demanded the immediate release of CCTV footage believed to have captured events surrounding the murder, arguing that transparency would help restore public confidence in the ongoing investigations.

The outspoken politician warned that continued silence from security agencies risked fuelling speculation and mistrust, especially among faithful who viewed Reverend Ndumia as a respected religious figure and community leader.

His remarks come amid growing public concern over rising insecurity and unresolved killings involving prominent individuals, with critics increasingly accusing authorities of delayed investigations and selective justice.

Neither the government nor police had publicly responded to Gachagua’s latest remarks by Sunday evening.
