Gov’t Finally Releases Ksh1.78B for Delayed Inua Jamii June July Payments

The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services has released Ksh1.78 billion for the Inua Jamii cash transfer programme for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) for June and July 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 8, 2025, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Children Services, Carren Ageng’o, said 445,940 beneficiaries will receive Ksh4,000 each, translating to Ksh2,000 per month for the two-month cycle.

Ageng’o said the disbursement started today through contracted payment service providers across the country.

“This is for both June and July 2025 payment cycles. Each household will receive Ksh4,000. Payments have started through our contracted Payment Service Providers,” she said.

The PS noted that the delay was caused by the restructuring of the State Department for Children Services which was created by Executive Order No. 1 of 2025.

Ageng’o said the CT-OVC programme is meant to support care of orphans and vulnerable children within their families and communities and human capital development.

She said the programme supports education enrolment and transition, access to healthcare, household food security and child protection mechanisms.

This comes after the State Department for Social Services and Senior Citizen Affairs released Ksh4.6 billion to other Inua Jamii beneficiaries in August following a data cleanup exercise.

PS Joseph Motari had earlier told beneficiaries that arrears from June cycle were cleared and payments were doubled to Ksh4,000 instead of the usual Ksh2,000.
