Hungary Announces 200 Scholarships for Kenyans under Stipendium Hungaricum Programme
Kenyan students have another opportunity to study abroad after the Hungarian government announced 200 scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year under the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme.
The Ministry of Education said in a statement on Tuesday that the scholarships are open to eligible Kenyans pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, and PhD programs at Hungarian universities. “Two hundred (200) scholarships are available to eligible Kenyans. The awards are tenable at universities in Hungary,” the notice read.
Interested candidates can apply through the official portal at https://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu, which opens on November 15, 2025. Applications close on January 15, 2026, with final submissions to the Ministry of Education due by January 16, 2026, at 5 p.m.
This development comes weeks after France unveiled its France Excellence Eiffel scholarships, offering support across seven fields of study for students at various levels of higher education. Master’s candidates may receive €1,200 (Ksh181,788) per month, while doctoral recipients can earn up to €2,100 (Ksh318,129).
French applicants are required to coordinate with Campus France or the French Embassy in their home country and secure acceptance from a French higher education institution, which will submit applications through the official Campus France platform.
