IEBC Announces Job Vacancies for Clerks, Poll Officials Ahead of By-Elections
IEBC has opened applications for temporary jobs, seeking to recruit voter registration clerks, presiding officers, deputy presiding officers and other poll officials to assist in voter registration and by-elections.
In a notice on its website, the commission said voter registration clerks will be deployed to 57 Huduma Centres across the country while by-election officials will serve in various electoral units including Magarini, Banissa, Mbeere North and Malava constituencies.
Applications should be either online or in hard copy to the nearest IEBC office. “IEBC is an equal opportunity employer, any canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification,” IEBC stated.
Positions and Requirements
Voter Registration Clerks
Will operate biometric voter registration kits (KIEMS/VIU tablets), verify eligibility of applicants in line with electoral laws and perform related duties. Must be a Kenyan citizen aged 19 and above, KCSE C- and computer literate. Diploma in ICT, statistics, business administration or education will be an added advantage.

Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers
Will manage polling stations, deputies will assist in coordination. Must be a Kenyan citizen of integrity, diploma or degree from a recognized institution and proficient in computer use, communication and report writing.

Ward-Based Voter Educators
Will distribute voter education materials in schools, religious institutions, health centres, markets and community centres and conduct awareness campaigns within wards.

Polling County Clerks
Will set up polling stations and counting centres. Must be a Kenyan citizen of integrity, KCSE C- and good character.

ICT Clerks
Will provide first level ICT support at tallying centres. Must have a diploma in ICT and at least two years of relevant experience.
