Joe Biden’s Cancer Has Spread to His Bones and Is Causing ‘Debilitating’ Pain, Hunter Biden Says
Former US President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread to his bones and is causing him severe pain, his son Hunter Biden has revealed in an emotional interview.
Hunter Biden became visibly emotional while discussing his 83-year-old father’s health during a wide-ranging interview with the BBC on Friday.
He said the cancer had “spread, metastasized into his bones and further”, describing the condition as “very painful” and “very debilitating in many respects.”
The remarks offer a deeply personal account of the former president’s ongoing health battle, months after Biden publicly disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis.
“It’s really sad to watch,” Hunter said, reflecting on his father’s condition.
“The only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good.”
Despite the seriousness of his condition, Hunter said his father remained engaged with public life and continued to speak about issues he believes are important to the United States.
“He’s still doing his thing,” he said. “He so believes in this country.”
Biden’s health became a major political issue during his presidency, particularly during the final months of his administration and his unsuccessful 2024 re-election campaign.
Concerns over his age and fitness intensified following his widely criticised debate performance against Donald Trump, eventually contributing to his decision to withdraw from the presidential race.
Biden left the White House in January 2025 after serving one term as president, having become the oldest person to occupy the Oval Office.
His prostate cancer diagnosis was announced in May 2025, less than four months after he left office.
The former president and members of his administration had previously faced criticism from political opponents over whether the full extent of his health and age-related difficulties had been adequately disclosed while he was president.
The latest comments from Hunter Biden are likely to renew public interest in the former president’s health, particularly as he continues to make occasional public appearances and comment on political developments.
Despite his illness, Hunter portrayed his father as determined to remain active.
The former president is also expected to publish a memoir, “Promise Me, America,” following the 2026 midterm elections.
